Indigo Children and Giftedness
(by Wendy H. Chapman)

Indigo Children are the current generation being born today and most of those who are 8 years old or younger. They are different. They have very unique characteristics that set them apart from previous generations of children. The name itself indicates the Life Color they carry in their auras and is indicative of the Third Eye Chakra, which represents intuition and psychic ability. These are the children who are often rebellious to authority, nonconformist, extremely emotionally and sometimes physically sensitive or fragile, highly talented or academically gifted and often metaphysically gifted as well, usually intuitive, very often labeled ADD, either very empathic and compassionate OR very cold and callous, and are wise beyond their years. Does this sound like yourself or your child?

Indigos have come into this world with difficult challenges to overcome. Their extreme levels of sensitivity are hard to understand and appreciate by parents who don't share this trait. Their giftedness is unusual in such high numbers. Their nonconformity to systems and to discipline will make it difficult to get through their childhood years and perhaps even their adult years. It is also what will help them accomplish big goals such as changing the educational system, for instance. Being an Indigo won't be easy for any of them, but it foretells a mission. The Indigo Children are the ones who have come to raise the vibration of our planet! These are the primary ones who will bring us the enlightenment to ascend.

There's a very good chance your child is an Indigo if he/she was born after 1992. About 85% or higher of children born in '92 or later, 90% born in '94 or after and 95% or more born now (some even say 99%) are Indigo Children! Does this mean you aren't one if you were born prior to 1992? No! I've heard reports that they started coming in the 80s, but that means coming in larger numbers. I believe there have been Indigos born in every year, but perhaps not in high enough percentages to notice their presence and see what makes them so unique. So can you be a 24 yr old Indigo or a 50 year old one? Yes!

Dr. Phil’s Do-It-Yourself Personality Test

(an email from a friend)

Dr. Phil gave this test to Oprah Winfrey. She got a 38. Some folks pay a lot of money to find this stuff out. Read on, this is very interesting! Don't be overly sensitive! The following is pretty accurate. And it only takes 2 minutes. Take this test for yourself and send it to your friends. Let them know who you are. The person who sends it should place their score in the subject box and then forward it to friends

Don't peek before beginning the test. Answers are for who you are now, not who you were in the past.

Have pen or pencil and paper ready. This is a real test given by the Human Relations Dept. at many of the major corporations today. It helps them get better insight concerning their employees and prospective employees.

It's only 10 simple questions, so grab a pencil and paper, keeping track of your letter answers. When you are finished, forward this to everyone you know, and also send it to the person who sent you one in the first place.

Ready? Begin...

1. When do you feel your best? a) in the morning b) during the afternoon and early evening c) late at night

2. You usually walk... a) fairly fast, with long steps b) fairly fast, with little steps c) less fast head up, looking the world in the face d) less fast, head down e) very slowly

3. When talking to people you... a) stand with your arms folded b) have your hands clasped c) have one or both your hands on your hips d) touch or push the person to whom you are talking e) play with your ear, touch your chin, or smooth your hair

5. When something really amuses you, you react with... a) a big, appreciative laugh b) a laugh, but not a loud one c) a quiet chuckle d) a sheepish smile

6. When you go to a party or social gathering you... a) make a loud entrance so everyone notices you b) make a quiet entrance, looking around for someone you know c) make the quietest entrance, trying to stay unnoticed

7. You're working very hard, concentrating hard, and you're interrupted, do you... a) welcome the break b) feel extremely irritated c) vary between these two extremes

8. Which of the following colors do you like most? a) Red or orange b) black c) yellow or light blue d) green e) dark blue or purple f) white g) brown or gray

9. When you are in bed at night, in those last few moments before going to sleep, you lie… a) stretched out on your back b) stretched out face down on your stomach c) on your side, slightly curled d) with your head on one arm e) with your head under the covers

10. You often dream that you are... a) falling b) fighting or struggling c) searching for something or somebody d) flying or floating e) you usually have dreamless sleep f) your dreams are always pleasant

POINTS:

1. (a) 2 (b) 4 (c) 6

2. (a) 6 (b) 4 (c) 7 (d) 2 (e) 1

3. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 5 (d) 7 (e) 6

4. (a) 4 (b) 6 (c) 2 (d) 1

5. (a) 6 (b) 4 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 2

6. (a) 6 (b) 4 (c) 2

7. (a) 6 (b) 2 (c) 4

8. (a) 6 (b) 7 (c) 5 (d) 4 (e) 3 (f) 2 (g) 1

9. (a) 7 (b) 6 (c) 4 (d) 2 (e) 1

10. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 6 (f) 1

Now add up the total number of points: (Sender’s Score: )

OVER 60 POINTS: Others see you as someone they should "handle with care". You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.

51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventure some, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate.

41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out.

31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over it if that trust is ever broken.

21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friend sees you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.

UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything. They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.

Walk the Walk Properly

(from the book "Wear and Tear" by Dr. Bob Arnot)

Walking improperly over a lifetime can lead to osteoarthritis and other painful bone disorders. By adjusting a few minor details in how you walk, you could make your life considerably easier in the future. Here are some suggestions on how to walk properly:

-keep hips level. Check your reflection as you walk by mirrors or shop windows. Try to stay straight and level so there is less pressure on heals as you land.

-use your knees. Bend your knees more and use quadriceps to increase the time to cushion your body weight as you land.

-use your feet. Step on the outside of your foot and roll to the inside to absorb shocks.

-try to float when you walk. Walk as if you were on a cloud. Wear good shoes and cushioned shoe inserts which help decrease pain.

-step lightly. Try to land more softly on your heels.

Interesting Career: Circus Performer Update from a Reader (in May Issue)

Should anybody be interested in the circus, Montreal is not the only city in North America that hosts a circus school. Other known cities are Tallahassee (Florida State University) and San Francisco. In San Francisco, there is a famous school that teaches contortion and other circus type acts. I don’t remember the name of the school but it was mentioned during a TV special on contortionists several weeks ago. And of course, there is the Barnum & Bailey Circus School in southern Florida. There are probably others as well. R.G.

Interesting Career (1): Wedding Photographer

If you are creative and love to take photographs, you might want to consider moving up to wedding photographer status and reap some of the interesting benefits of the job.

First of all, there will always be weddings. If you are good, you will always be in demand. The job is recession proof and will never disappear.

A typical wedding shoot will probably start at a rehearsal where you will get to meet the wedding party and parents and get them to feel comfortable with you. Get a good idea of where and when you can’t take shots.

On the day of a wedding, you will probably get there a few hours ahead so that you can take photos of the bride and bridesmaids and her parents. On to the wedding.

It is important to have some set poses and order of shots, usually involving many people and then moving down the list to the individuals in the couple. You will probably be asked to take a lot of shots of guests too. Very interesting.

Benefits: usually a free meal and drinks, lots of attention, great sense of satisfaction at being an important part of the wedding, monetary compensation can be anywhere from usually $300-$800 to $5000 (only the best with the best equipment) for the day and some photo developing time.

How to get started: look at lots of wedding photos to pick out the shots you like best and memorize them or list them for future use, go to wedding trade shows for lots of ideas, practice on friends at a mock wedding, look at models in catalogues for posing and positioning, visit wedding photographer studios and note shots he/she takes, perhaps apprentice or volunteer with a pro photographer.

Downside: can be stressful because you only get one chance to get it right, long day of constant work, need for a high level of energy to look for shots and control the posing of large numbers of people.

Interesting Career (2): Faux Wedding Cake Designer

Wedding cakes can be unbelievably expensive. With some creativity, why not save people some money and make money at the same time. Make fake cakes (to sell or rent) that look like the real thing. With acrylic paints (cream and light yellow), acrylic modelling compound, glass cake stand, matte spray sealer, various round papier-mache hat boxes and interesting wedding cake decorations, you could have a thriving business going in no time.

Go to wedding cake bakeries to watch, take a few lessons in how to do icing, visit other stores that make any kind of cakes for ideas.

Once you build up a great collection of your faux cakes, you can put them in a nice display, advertise in the right places and make lots of people happy.

What Airfares Really Cost

(from an article by Gerry Hall, Toronto Star)

Taking an air trip will never be the same after reading this. If you are a Canadian, you are going to be shocked. Ready? You better be sitting down!

Image you found a dress/suit with a price of $150 on it. With tax you now pay $172.50. Imagine, however, if the owner of the store made you pay for 5-6 extra things such as increased cost of heating, rent hike, store security and a few other goodies. You are presented a bill for $310 for the dress!

Sounds too fantastic? Can’t happen here? It is happening in the airline business! The above numbers represent the actual costs of a Canadian airline ticket to Florida including all the hidden extra taxes which add up to $160 on a $150 ticket!

What are we being charged for? How about: privatized NAV Canada running our air navigation system, fuel surcharges, aircraft insurance surcharges since 9/11, increased security surcharges ($12/person – highest in the world), airport improvement fee ($10 per flight), and then regular GST and PST taxes.

Cliff Mackay, president of the Air Transport Association of Canada denounces these extra charges. He says that the federal government took $308 million out of the aviation system and reinvested only $77 million in 2001-2002. The rest went into general revenues.

Many Canadians react to this by booking flights out of U.S. border airports such as Buffalo and Seattle.

Despite actual flight costs being discounted, say from $249 to $150, the $160 surcharges remain the same! There is pressure to have these surcharges made visible whenever you book a flight. All fixed costs will have to be itemized as they are in Alberta.

The airline industry is already suffering from reduced passenger flights. This just adds to the problem.

(editor’s note: WHAT CAN YOU DO? write or phone your MP in Ottawa and put pressure on to at least itemize the surcharges so people can see them. Start a petition or campaign to have the extras reduced. The buying public has the ultimate power, so stay home or use alternative means of getting to other destinations i.e. bus, train, boat, car. Try to force the change.)

The Poor Misunderstood Dandelion

(from an article by Cindy Rennie, "There’s no place like home..")

There are many people outraged right now. Why? Because they have dandelions on their lawns! My God, these "weeds" have their nerve coming on to MY lawn, don’t they?

The poor misunderstood dandelion is one of the first signs of spring each year. To welcome its arrival, we rush off to buy it herbicide as a present.

So what is this plant all about? Believe it or not, dandelions have an impressive list of nutritional, medicinal and ecological benefits. You may just want to change your mind about them after reading this.

The first pioneers brought dandelions with them. All the medicine they needed was in the small light packages. Herbalists will tell you that the dandelion is one of the most complete plant foods on earth! It contains over 64 nutrients and health-promoting substances. They have more beta-carotene than carrots, more lecithin than soybeans, more iron than spinach. They contain vitamins A, C, E, thiamin, riboflavin, calcium, potassium, phosphorous and magnesium. Replace your bottles of vitamin supplements with dandelion and you can save all that money.

It can be used in salads and picked right from your yard (caution: Do not eat dandelions sprayed on your lawn!!). Why buy that expensive mixed salad in a bag?

Medicinal properties include: cleanses the liver and bloodstream, increases bile production, reduces serum cholesterol and uric acid, improves the functioning of the kidneys, pancreas, spleen and stomach. It can be useful in treating abscesses, anemia, boils, breast tumors, cirrhosis of the liver, relieves fluid retention, deals with hepatitis, jaundice and rheumatism. It is also a diuretic and aids in healing tonsillitis.

Dandelion farming is a growing business worth about $10 million a year in the US. More and more people are starting to consume them.

If they are left in the ground, dandelions improve the lawn. The roots go deep into the soil and bring trace minerals to the surface. This helps the topsoil. It may be news to people but dandelions do not compete with grass. Grass roots only go several inches below ground level. Dandelions are also natural humus producers which attracts earthworms. Keep them and you actually end up with a better quality lawn – cosmetics aside.

Let’s change some attitudes. Instead of bursting a blood vessel when you see a dandelion, pick a bunch of leaves for your salad and while eating them, they will help you lower your blood pressure.

Jokes of the Month

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face."

"Yes," the class said.

"Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"

A little fellow shouted, "Cause your feet ain't empty."
